My 1996 Savage has an inner pipe with approximately 1/8" airgap between the inner and outer pipes, so the dent shouldn't affect anything, apart from not looking pretty.
If you don't want to replace the pipe, I think Roadhouse sell a chrome flexible pipe that slips over the original one ( makes it look like an old Indian )
